(Woodhull, NY) With the 2023 Arnot Mall Car Show now just a memory, Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer will focus their attention on a pair of Practice Sessions on Saturday, April 8 and 15, 2023.
After a relatively mild winter with little or no frost in the ground it appears like Woodhull should get in one or both practice dates barring any unexpected snowstorms or large amounts of rain.
“This facility has very poor drainage, said the Brewer’s. The whole place is on a natural clay bed so it takes awhile to dry up each spring. The thing we have in our favor this year is that we did have an open winter with little or no frost and not a lot of snow. Barring anything drastic the facility should drain much quicker than in previous years and hopefully we will be all set for our two practice dates in early April.”
The past few years the track has struggled to get in practice due to early April snow along with a lot of rain in late March and early April slowing the drying process.
“The track is built to drain, but our parking lots and pit area is where the biggest concern lies. If it’s too wet, the trucks and trailers just tear up the place so we have to proceed with caution. But, we feel very optimistic that we will be in much better shape this year for practice and our season opener.” That once according to the Brewer’s.
Racers and fans are encouraged to follow along at www.Facebook.com/WoodhullRaceway/ for pit gate times for both practice dates along with hours that the track will be open for test and tune. An entry fee into the pit area will be charged to cover operational and insurance costs.
In addition, fans entering the grandstand area will be allowed free access for both practice dates. Track management will be available for those inquiring about reserved seating for the year, season passes as well as paying for seasonal tower space.
The practice dates give all of Woodhull’s drivers a chance to shake off the rust and get a feel for how the car will respond to early season track conditions. Many teams come with new equipment and in many cases, drivers have changed classes thus practice is imperative prior to the season lid lifter on Saturday, April 22, 2023, presented by Alfred State College.
The season opener will see the Doug Gross Construction RUSH Crate Late Models, NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman, Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks, KMD Excavating Hobby Stocks as well as the Wicked Tee’s sponsored Mini Stocks, FWD and Warrior classes in action.
The Insinger Performance Modifieds will not begin their 2023 campaign until Saturday, April 29.
