(Woodhull, NY) – Brand new Woodhull Raceway owners Nikki and Terry Brewer have been faced with an incredibly tough challenge to start their ownership of the Steuben County speedplant.
Concerns over COVID-19’s spread within New York State, and specifically Steuben County, have made the beginning of the 2020 season look to still be several weeks away in the best-case scenario. Woodhull Raceway has made the decision that racing activity will continue to be suspended through and including Saturday May 9th on the track schedule.
The Patriot Sprint Tour was set to invade Woodhull on May 9 and will now look toward August 22 as their first show of 2020 at “New York’s Toughest Bullring” as a reschedule is not in place at this time.
After New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday the potential relaxing of business closures and future phasing out of social distancing measures, all options are on the table for discussion at this time for how and when to re-open. Regardless of when the season begins in 2020, the first event will be a practice session.
In regard to practice, Woodhull Raceway ownership is currently working on a plan to review with local health and municipality officials to hold a pair of practice sessions. Those sessions would be closed to fans and adhere to CDC guidelines for social distancing, while allowing teams to get much needed time to test and tune for the upcoming season.
