Woodhull, NY- Second verse, same as the first as Woodhull Raceway will again pull the plug on the tracks second and final practice date of 2022.
“We have had some good drying days, but today the Woodhull area received close to 2” of rain throughout the day. The forecast for both Friday and Saturday are not the greatest either with more showers and cold temperatures. There is no sense in prolonging the inevitable so we are going to cancel the April 9 practice now so that everyone who was planning to attend practice can make other plans”. That according to Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer.
Unfortunately, the racers will have to go into the 2022 season at Woodhull cold turkey as the track has now lost both practice dates leading up to the Close Racing Supply sponsored season opener on Saturday, April 16 which features a $1,000 to win event for the NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman Division. Also scheduled on the card will be the Joe Willcox Performance Street Stocks, the Armstrong RUSH Crate Late Models, Hobby and Mini Stocks along with the FWD and Warrior Divisions.
On a better note, the extended forecast for the upcoming week looks very favorable with abnormally high temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
“If we get three or four straight days of sun, warm weather and some wind we will be in decent shape for the April 16 opener. The track is built to drain and it does quite well, however the pit and main parking lots are the problem as things are still saturated, but with a few good drying days we will be ready to roll on the 16th”. That again according to the Brewer’s.
The Insinger Performance Modifieds will be absent from the program on opening night, but they will come roaring back to life the following Saturday on April 23 with a $2,000 to win season opener for the track’s premier division.
It is anticipated that some of the Mod Squad will be at the track on April 16 to shake down their mounts as traditionally the track has an open practice session at the completion of each nightly event.
