The time is closing in on the 2018 Joe Willcox Performance Automatics street stock Woodhull 100 on September 22nd.
What started as a small race for the local racers has now turned into one of the biggest races for all street stock drivers from over 5 to 6 different tracks. Drivers running for bigger payouts as well as lap money.
In 2017, we reached over $3,500 in cash and gift certificates. Starting the week of August 4th we will begin collecting lap sponsors for the 2018 Woodhull 100. Laps will once again be a minimum of $20 each with no max amount.
We also have the hard charger, move of the race, and the hard luck contingencies that are $50 minimum each. We will also run (2) 5 lap dash races to set the top 12 starting order. Each dash will be available to sponsor, for a minimum of $100.
For the last 2 years Dylan Potter of Potter Chassis has sponsored the heat race with gift certificates to each heat race winner towards a new Potter Chassis.
Our goal this year is to hit the $4,000 mark in sponsorship. So now the question is who is going to take home the hardware and bragging rights for 2018?
Can last year’s winner Glenn Whritenour win back-to-back years, or can Kurt Stebbins hold on to lead Lap 100 and win his fourth 100-lap SS race in his career? Will hot shoe Dylan Cecce get it done or will the Logger Earl Zimmer get to the double checkered first?
But don’t count out anyone as anyone has a chance because anything can happen in 100 laps. Brett Marlatt has been in contention for wins from the Consi on more than a few occasions- maybe 2018 will be the year he gets the monkey off his back? Only time will tell.
