WOODHULL RACEWAY RELEASES OFFICIAL 2009 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS.

27 event season set to go with practice on April 11 and the lid lifter on April 18.

(Woodhull, NY)  The Official 2009 Woodhull Raceway Schedule of Events has been signed, sealed and delivery begins on Saturday, April 11, 2009 with an open practice from 6 to 9 pm.  An aggressive 27 night schedule will follow with the season opener slated for April 18 and every Saturday thereafter until the track will close the books on its 45th consecutive year of action on October 3.  A special Memorial Day event on Monday, May 25 and one lone Friday show on October 2 are the only two regularly scheduled events outside of Woodhull’s customary Saturday night format.  Sunday rain dates starting on June 21 and going thru August 23 will allow the track management the option of a make-up should the regular Saturday shows get postponed.

“I think we did a pretty good job diversifying our 09 schedule, stated Woodhull owner, Vern Wasson.  We have learned over the years what works and what doesn’t work.  The shows that are not well received by the fans get dumped with the more popular events getting fine tuned more and more each year. For all practical purposes we know our fan base, what they can afford and what their tastes are.  In addition each year we try something new in an attempt to attract new fans to the sport.”

Woodhull has no less than three quarters of its schedule dedicated to some type of a special event weather it is the actual racing on the track or interactment with the fans.  Such traditional races like the Scott Dennison Memorial, George Williams Memorial, Jim Williams Memorial, Lyle Sherwood Memorial and the season ending Fall Shootout have become must see events.

The Empire Super Sprints, ASCA Patriots, Super Late Models, BRP 360 Late Models and Vintage Antiques are well known touring groups in the northeast that make an annual trek to the high banks of Woodhull.  New in 2009 will be the Xcel 600 Modifieds along with a 305 Sprint Special.

Other traditional flare includes the Annual Fireman’s Appreciation Night, Fireworks Extravaganza Night, Spaulding Foundation and Fan Appreciation Night, Christmas in July Bicycle Give-a-way, Legends of Woodhull Reunion as well as the 360 LM and Street Stock Race of Champion events.

The Official 2009 Woodhull Raceway Schedule cards complete with sponsors and other valuable information are currently in print and will be made available to the general public beginning with Woodhull’s Annual Car Show at the Arnot Mall in Big Flats, New York on March 28 and 29.
