WOODHULL RACEWAY RELEASES INFORMATION ON VANPELT BROTHERS BOUNTY.

(Woodhull, NY)  “Curt and Billy VanPelt are the two best drivers in the history of the Woodhull Raceway.  There is no question that they have the talent, crew and equipment to win every event in 2008 at Woodhull no matter where they start in the feature line-up.  This incentive program that I’m offering is not only to reward anyone that can beat them, but also it will reward either VanPelt if they can continue winning.”

Those were the words of Woodhull Raceway Track Owner, Vern Wasson as he announced last Saturday night a Bounty that has been placed on the brothers VanPelt.

Here is how it will work. Beginning on Saturday, June 7, 2008, should any 358 Modified driver beat the VanPelt’s in the feature event that winning driver will receive an additional $500 cash.  The stipulation is that either Curt or Billy has to be running at the end of the feature.  It doesn’t matter if one or the other is out of the race or a lap down.  As long as one of them is still out there and can be beaten, the $500 goes to the winner.

On the other hand, beginning on June 7, 2008 should either of the VanPelt brothers win back to back feature events that driver will pick-up and added $250.

Thus far in 2008 Curt VanPelt has one feature win to his credit with younger brother Billy adding two feature event wins to his overall tally.

“They can be beaten as proven last season when the likes of Dylan Dewert, Dave Dubois, Bryan Terwilliger, Ron Cartwright Jr. and Frank Dunning all took them down at one time or another.  We have a great group of racers once again this year all capable of winning:  Dunning, Ray Bliss Jr., Kevin Chilson, Dewert, Dale Welty, Stacy Jackson and Steve Hartman Jr. all have the equipment and talent to dethrone the Ted White Racing duo of Curt and Billy VanPelt.  However, from what I’ve seen thus far in 2008 anyone of the before mentioned drivers or anyone else for that matter will have to really be on their game to beat the VanPelt’s.  They both seem to be getting better with age.  I’ve watched Curt win races for 30 years and there still no quit in him and Billy is just as good as ever.  Vern’s idea will spur a lot of interest and incentive for other racers weather they are regular’s or outsiders to step up to the plate and be heard from and at the same time make it a must see for the fans.  Knowing Curt and Billy they will thoroughly enjoy the challenge!”    That according to Woodhull Public Relations Director, Kenny Shupp.

Wasson also mentioned that the $500 Bounty could grow depending on how things proceed along and additional sponsor dollars could also be generated to “really sweeten the deal”.  And like Shupp, Wasson agrees, “This will attract a bunch of fan interest.  People will make an extra effort to get to the track just see if they can continue to win or will they get beat.”
