DAVE MACHUGA NAMED AS GRAND MARSHALL FOR THE ANNUAL SCOTT DENNISON MEMORIAL EVENT AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY. (Woodhull, NY) The Annual Scott Dennison Memorial event for the 360 Late Models that compete weekly at the Woodhull Raceway has become one of the most prestigious 360 Late Model races in the region. Dennison, who tragically lost his life during a 4 wheel ATV exhibition race at Woodhull in 2004 was a standout competitor in the Super Stock class now known at the 360 Late Model Division. Each year the Dennison Memorial gains more and more momentum with last years winner, Wayne Robertson returning to defend his turf against what is expected to be a who’s who list of many of the northeast’s top 360 Late Model drivers. With extra financial backing from Larry and Janice Knowles of Doug Gross Construction of Painted Post, NY, the Scott Dennison Memorial will take on added media and fan attention this year as it was recently announced that long time Woodhull Raceway competitor and noted chassis builder, Dave Machuga will be the Grand Marshall for the May 9, 2009 event. “Dave has recently gone thru open heart surgery and is still on the road to recovery, noted Woodhull Raceway Public Relations directory, Kenny Shupp. When Larry, Janice and I were discussing this years Scott Dennison Memorial race they came up with the idea of inviting Dave as the nights Grand Marshall. I was immediately sold on the concept as Dave Machuga is still a household name at the track. He’s won lots of races at Woodhull and many of his chassis designs are still in competition. Dave has always been a fan favorite and his presence at this year’s Scott Dennison Memorial will just make the show even better.” Larry Knowles has been affiliated with Dave Machuga for many years as a one time team mate and fellow competitor in the Super Stock Class. Scott Dennison was an employee of Doug Gross Construction at the time of his death consequently the Dennison Memorial has added sentimental value for the Knowles Family. Machuga will arrive at the track early on May 9 to greet the fans, sign autographs and tour the pits where he will be re-acquainted with his old race buddies. He will then have the honor of dropping the green flag on the 30 lap feature event in the 5th Annual Scott Dennison Memorial Event.
